Whitepages, 411.com & PeopleSearch
As a senior software engineer at Whitepages, I work across multiple high traffic people search and property intelligence platforms, including Whitepages.com, 411.com, PeopleSearch.com, and Property.Whitepages.com. The tech stack spans TypeScript/TSX, Tailwind, Kotlin, Vue, Python, Scala, Docker, Kubernetes, and more. Here are some highlights of my contributions:
- Sitemap Pipeline. Designed and implemented a sitemap generation pipeline for approximately 100 million pages using Databricks and Cloudflare R2 storage.
- Blog Migration. Migrated the Whitepages blog from WordPress to the internal tech stack, integrating a headless Umbraco CMS.
- User-Facing Components. Built neighborhood sections, last name directories, phone panels, and directory components across Whitepages.com, 411.com, and PeopleSearch.com.
- Monitoring Service. Built a monitoring service that syncs NodePing alerts with Cloudflare WAF rules.
- Cookie Banner & Consent. Developed a custom cookie banner and terms of service consent modal used across all websites.
- Accessibility. Improved accessibility across PeopleSearch and Whitepages.com, including rebuilding search result structures with semantic HTML.
- A/B Testing. Implemented A/B tests using Flagship/AB Tasty to optimize user engagement and conversions. One example being when I added support for a new payment gateway.
- Infrastructure. Migrated Cloudflare cache rules to Terraform and configured Cloudflare Zero Trust for SEO crawls (via Screaming Frog).
- Property Intel. Contributed to the Property Intel real estate intelligence platform, including prototyping a property sale likelihood scoring model during a hackathon.
- Jira Automation. Extended the Python tool for Jira ticket automation, streamlining team workflows.
- On-Call Rotation. Was on L1 and L2 on-call rotation for a week every month or so. More PagerDuty, Prometheus, Grafana, Sumo Logic, and dashboards than you can shake a stick at.
