IGT
I had my fingers in a lot of pots during my 3 years at IGT. I was one of the primary developers of IGT.com and MegaJackpots.com (now IGTJackpots.com). I also worked on a number of microsites and some internal tools used by employees. One of my favorite things to work on was the Pop Culture microsite, and one of the most challenging was the Built to Perform microsite. Here are some of the more notable aspects of my time at IGT:
- I moved IGT.com and MegaJackpots.com into the Umbraco CMS, and I implemented regionalization for region-specific and multilingual content.
- Over the years, I made many changes to IGT.com and MegaJackpots.com, such as:
- Optimized various sections to improve performance (e.g., I rebuilt the PAR sheet search tool to be real-time).
- Created a custom Google map for use across MegaJackpots.com.
- Kept the sites up to date with the latest technologies and techniques (e.g., moved away from XSLT macros once the Umbraco API became more robust).
- Maintained and enhanced both sites in general, including performing Umbraco upgrades.
- I coded the Built to Perform microsite, which used an animation technique unlike any I’ve seen. Rather than simply moving things around the screen when animating between pages, the page layouts actually adapted to the direction the user visited the page from (left or right).
- I coded the Pop Culture microsite, which was responsive and had a parallax scrolling effect. There was also a neat hover animation that required a good amount of math to get working.
